Maranta Olive Green Leather Ankle Boots – Pointed Toe, 6.3cm Flared Heel

The Maranta is the boot that carries a whole outfit on its own. Olive green leather, a long tapered point, and a heel you will not find anywhere else in the collection: a flared block, narrow where it meets the boot and wider at the floor, cut with four flat faces and sharp edges. It reads as sculpture from the side, and it is the reason this boot photographs the way it does.

The cut is low and open, with a deep V at each side and a black elastic gore set behind it. The boot slips on without a zip, holds at the ankle, and leaves the top of the foot exposed, which is what keeps the leg looking long rather than cut off. The interior is lined in black.

Olive is the useful green: it sits with camel, chocolate, cream, grey and denim without asking permission. Wear it under a narrow mid-calf skirt or a cropped trouser, where the pointed toe and the heel both stay in view.

Two things specific to this shape. The toe is long and tapered, so the boot measures longer than it fits: that extra length is empty point, not room for your foot, and sizing up to gain toe space only makes the boot slide at the heel.
