Description
The Angico is a flat strappy sandal built around one detail most sandals skip: a woven raffia footbed. Natural raffia under the foot breathes in a way leather does not, it does not get slippery when the day is hot, and it gives the sandal the texture that makes it read as summer rather than as a plain leather flat.
The straps are fine tubular leather, rounded in section rather than cut flat, so nothing digs in across the top of the foot. They cross the vamp and pass through a simple knot at each side, and the thin ankle strap with its small buckle is what lets a flat sandal hold the foot properly all day instead of sliding.
The gold is a soft metallic with a satin sheen rather than a mirror finish, warm against the straw of the footbed. At flat height it does the work of a dressier sandal without any of the discomfort, which is why it is the one people keep for dinner.
How to wear it
- With a midi dress or skirt, where the ankle strap draws the eye to the narrowest part of the leg.
- With cream, ivory or white linen, when the gold is the only shine in the outfit.
- With denim, for the version that dresses up an ordinary day.
Size & fit: please read before ordering
Made on the same French last, cut slim and precise. If your feet are slim to average, order your usual size. If they're wider, we'd suggest sizing up.
The ankle strap has several holes, so there is real adjustment at the ankle. What does not adjust is the width across the vamp, which is why a wider foot is more comfortable one size up. If you are unsure, write to info@mangara.be before you order. It is faster than a return.

Keep raffia dry. Wipe the straps with a barely damp cloth only, never with an abrasive cloth: metallic finishes scratch more easily than plain leather. Let the sandal dry naturally, away from any heat source.

How our shoes run: the French last
Our shoes are shaped on a French last, which gives an elegant, slightly slim fit through the foot. If your feet are narrow to average, take your usual EU size. If your feet are on the wider side, read the wide-feet notes below before choosing.
Find your size (EU size chart)
The most reliable way to size is by foot length, not by the size you usually buy — brands vary.
How to measure:
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall (measure at the end of the day, when feet are slightly larger).
- Mark the tip of your longest toe.
- Measure heel-to-toe in centimetres. Measure both feet and use the larger.
- Match your longest measurement to the chart below.

Wide feet? Narrow feet? Here's what to choose
- Wider feet: because of the slim French last, consider sizing up by half a size, and favour adjustable styles — ankle straps, buckles and toe-ring slides give the most room. Open styles (slides, mules, strappy sandals) suit wider feet better than closed courts.
- Narrow feet: take your true size; adjustable straps let you tighten for a secure fit.
- In-between: size up to the nearest half size — leather gives a little as it softens, but never shrinks.
Leather that moulds to you
Our calf leather is supple from the first wear and continues to soften, gently shaping to your foot over the first few outings. A snug (never tight) fit at the start is normal — it's the leather getting to know you.

When in doubt, size up to the nearest half size. Leather softens and gives slightly with wear; it won't shrink to fit.
Are the heels comfortable to walk in?
Most of our heels are stable block heels (roughly 4–9 cm) designed for real, all-day wear rather than standing still.
